Currently working on...

  • All tube preamp using submini 6112 tubes based on Mesa Mark IIC+ together with graphic EQ
  • DIY Sustainer
  • Alkaline Battery Charger

Future projects

  • Miniature all tube amp with two 6021 tubes based on the idea of Zvex Nano amp.
  • 7-string guitar with fixed bridge, 24 frets, no tone control, bridge pickup only, no fret dots...just a thought.
  • Ultra low-power amp with 12K5 tubes for blistering 35mW (milliwatts) of power, maybe even push-pull
  • Make replacement body for my Ibanez RG2550EGK with fancy figured maple top...edit: I don't know about that, I feel kinda sorry to take it apart.
  • Do something with submini tubes I got, especially 5744. Maybe some kind of starved plate overdrive.
  • RunOffGroove Phozer Pedal. I wasn't completely satisfied with Nurse Quacky autowah pedal so I'd like to try something else. Phozer sounds interesting and I can use most of hardware from Nurse Quacky build for this.
  • Solid state bass amp, just don't know which one

wlud: BTW, a small article "Wiring the sustainer for dummies" would be greatly appreciated ;)
wlud: I tried the beta release of the java DIYLC, but it does not open the diy files already created.. which is pretty annoying... Cheers.
jared: how do you hook up the sustainer to the other pickup? should i use an lfo for an input to the ruby? or does the output of the pickups go to the input of the amp then the output of the amp go to guitar out?
Gary: Has anyone got a TO-18 case Transistor library component? The only one I can see in the Java version of Diylayout is a TO-92 format case.
head_spaz: What happened to the layouts? The list is blank!
dmage: Hi! Can you send some drawings of the cabinet, described in MOJO project article ?
Marcos Thor: Hey guys, Im from Brazil, and I have some problems to import my layouts of the old version, the new java version dont recognize the format? What I do? thanks!
Lloyd M.: Deep Purple, eh? A man after my own heart. There's hope for the world yet, LOL
Spud: Check this out: guitarbackingtrack.com/bts/Petrucci,_John.htm Enjoy
SHAMPOO: Use it... PLEASE!!!
spud: Really want to get the schematic for your 5W SLO Clone. Or if you posted it somewhere please tell us the site. Thanks.
olivier: Any chance DIYLC comes open-source. It'd be great. Thx
lawnmowa: This is out there, but it would be cool if a program like this could also analyze the sound result. A virtual prototyping system!
aprilia1k: All these cool (one guesses) layouts cannot be opened by the latest version (multi-platform anyway)... they are all XML files, but the author changed the format RADICALLY (Create a new .diy file and compare it's format to one you download)... the author could rather easily have written a script to convert the old xml format to new... you can see the component tag on newer files, and older files have just electrolytic or whatever... newer have component with name property of "electrolytic", etc... too bad... some of these projects look like they'd be cool to play with...
aprilia1k: Cool, needs some work f'sure, but cool. Placing a resistor and elec. cap across the same eyelets is a very common practice (i.e. on a cathode to ground)... this doesn't allow the "leads" to bend, that is - the cap will cover and make invisible the resistor... and bringing to the top just sort of hides the cap somewhat... bending leads on components would be slick. Overall VERY slick though... have to admit, the way you can manipulate a wire is pretty unreal, once you get the hang of it... One other thing, using a 9-pin tube socket, I could not get any component (or wire for that matter) to "bind" or join to pin 2 of the socket... a pain, f'sure...
parker: He is there any way to change the grid size? It doesnt line up when i put the units in centimeters
diyjesus: hi, brilliant site. i am just looking at the dynacomp perfboard layout. do the lines represent jumper wires?
Sourcery: Hello, really like the software, but when I did a designen that needed one leg on a transistor bent to spread over 4 rows this couldnt be done. Maybe an improvement for the next version Thanks again
did: Hello I have downloaded diy layout creator 2.0.1 in java but I can't open the diy files from the projects category. Thanks. did.
blackhouse: are we supposed to look at the stripboard layouts as if we're looking at the lead side or component side? So confused
moshe_dol: hii cool sit !! how did you make a 5w power amp for the slo 5w.
doctorzylo: Hi, I'm getting the "No active document" message. Can I get past this?
nui1379: Could you please show me a total circuit ( DIY sustainerr ) which show how to connect with pickup and switch . Thank you
MrUmunhum: Flyspray link is dead
amgray19: Can you add a battery symbol, like 9v to a schematic?
bancika: upload fixed, thanks!
spud: Hey, uploading files in the layout section fails - somthing about security.
Lame: I clicked button "save" for a project once "saved as". File disappeared. Is it gone. Do I need to do the whole project again?
TOBe: right click on parts doesnt work. i am using vista sp1. any suggestions?
DanN: I cant open the project files, they downloaded as .txt how do I open in DIYLC
alarroste: Hello webmaster, I would like to share with you a link, write to alarroste@mail.ru
ollie: for vista, right click the icon and 'run as administrator'. I kept getting the empty document error before finding this out
